What is Biometric Authentication and How to Set It Up

Binance now supports the FIDO Biometric Authentication on the Binance App. You can use your face or fingerprint for Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), in addition to using email, SMS, Binance Authenticator, and Google Authenticator. This can enhance the security of your account and better protect your assets.

What is Biometric Authentication?

Biometric Authentication is a security measure that uses human physical characteristics, such as fingerprint and face, to authenticate the user. It is usually required for account setting updates, withdrawal authorization, etc., to protect your account.
Binance implemented the FIDO protocol to enable Biometric Authentication on the Binance App. Your biometric information will only be stored on your device and the authentication process will be performed locally, meaning that your information will not be shared with Binance or transmitted over the network to any third parties.
Benefits of using Biometric Authentication
  • Secure: The face/fingerprint information is a unique form of credential that cannot be duplicated. It will only be saved locally on your device and will not be transmitted to any third-party network or cloud.
  • Convenient: With a simple glance or touch, you can complete 2FA within seconds. You don’t need to manually check and enter the verification code from your 2FA devices.
